Challenge

Cambia Health Solutions / Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield sought to be a market leader in health system data exchange as both a first-mover in compliance and to define consumer-centered experiences beyond adherence to the law. The proposed federal regulation requires HIPAA-covered entities to standardize their data (claims, providers, clinical, and pharmacy) and make that data available to consumer-facing third party apps via FHIR-based APIs. This will have dramatic impacts on how consumers access and interpret their health data and massive disruption from big technology players is anticipated. The challenge is to mobilize internally to surface big tradeoffs decisions quickly for corporate strategic planning.

Directing Experience Design at the program level, overseeing a team of two Experience Designers, and partnering with leaders and functions to define industry leading standards for consumer-centered experiences—both digital and physical--in the future-state landscape of third party apps.

This program is scoped as a multi-year effort with cross-functional representation from across the enterprise with key input from PMO, IT, Enterprise Architecture, HP Ops, Healthcare Services, Government Programs, Public Policy, Legal, HealthSparq, and Journi.
